Welcome to the Repton Village Society.
The forerunner of this Society was established in 1989 as the Repton Village Preservation Group to campaign against proposals for large-scale housing schemes.
It evolved into the present form in 1991, when it was registered with the Civic Trust (www.civictrust.org.uk) as the local civic amenity society, and also became a registered charity. It is a member of the East Midlands Amenity Societies Association.
The society is established:
(i) | To promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting the area of benefit. |
(ii) | To educate the public in the geography, history, natural history and architecture of the areas of benefit. |
(iii) | To secure the preservation protection development and improvement of features of historic or public interest in the area of benefit. |
The R.V.S. is recognised by the local authority planning department for the purpose of non-statutory consultation on planning matters and co-operates with the Repton Parish Council in village improvement schemes and ‘best kept’ village competitions.
